Sad Day

Mon Nov 2, 2009, 10:17 AM
Today marks a sad day in the history of my deviantART life. I've been threatened with being banned from deviantART unless I remove all of my deviations. Someone (:icondas-unsterblich:) just had to be a little policeman and take things into their own hands. And, as a result, I was targeted and given said ultimatum.

Therefore, from now on, I will no longer be uploading Gaia art to deviantART. Instead, I will be moving all of my pre-existing work to my account on Photobucket, and I will also have them posted in my group on Yahoo as well.

Now, this doesn't mean that I will be leaving deviantART, it just means that you will no longer be able to view/fave any of my work on this site. I'll still be faving and commenting so don't worry about losing a fan. So, as of the posting of this journal entry, everyone viewing it will have until Monday, November 2, to save any deviations they would like. Come Tuesday, everything will be gone.

So please, don't stop following me because of this. I can still do requests, art trades, etc., all you need to do is let me know. Oh, and I'll post links to my Photobucket and Yahoo accounts at the bottom of the page.

tghawk555 out!

EDIT: Today (Monday) will not be the deadline. Instead, I will wait until I hear back from the deviantART staff, which should be Tuesday or Wednesday. So fear... less! I might not have to remove my work after all!

While I only just discovered you, I wanted to send you a message of support. I'm always delighted to find a new author of the Zappy and I'm glad to see the trouble seems to have died down at least somewhat.

I myself had an encounter with deviantArt "legal", though for a different issue. I saw several of my friends get into trouble and decided to take action before they suspended me. While their logic isn't always correct, we are forced to abide by their decisions.

I do hope to see you continuing in your endeavors here on deviantArt and that your issues fully resolve themselves soon.

...What's "the Zappy"? And anyway, thanks for the support! I'm going to be posting more literature now, so please look forward to it!

*Chuckles* Since you've ready some of Kerina's works, I thought you would know. Transformation fiction. ^^

Thanks for the faves --

I went to go see what you have at Photobucket, and I'm just not sure what exactly that guy was complaining about, so if you wanted enlighten me, that's be appreciated.

Fight the power! Or whatever you need to do.

Oh, copyright infringement issues and all that. See, stuff from Gaia Online is copyrighted, but the website I use (tektek.org) is allowed to use them for a "dream avatar" site. So, as long as I'm not profiting off of using these avatars or making an avatar-based social networking site, I shouldn't be in violation of copyright. But deviantART doesn't agree with me. I was lucky they only suspended me...

And thank you for your interest and support! Much appreciated! Oh, and you're a very talented artist, too.

DA has to at least put forth the front that they're concerned about that sort of thing. I think probably, being internet entrepreneurs, the folks who set up the site can't possibly care less, because the vast majority of what happens on-line is fraud, theft and questionable content of every kind, and I believe the people who profit from it have embraced that idea, but artists are another story. Artists tend to be very sensitive about their work and what context it is seen in. I cite the on-going stink about "share enabling" on submissions.

Anyhow. There were a bunch of cute characters on the Photbucket page, and if you made them, despite the fact that they're somebody else's characters they're still art, and I don't think what you're doing is any different than all the other "fan art" and "fan fiction" that goes on around here.
